Medical students

Training module for medical students enrolled at the FAU

To motivate medical students to pursue a career as a clinician-scientist, we will offer a structured 18-month doctoral program for motivated and research-committed medical students (six per round, two rounds during the 1st funding period) at the beginning of the clinical part of their medical program, i.e., after their 1st medical state exam, also known as “Physikum”. The candidates will already be recruited in the preclinical phase of their medical program, i.e., before the “Physikum”. They should be committed to take off one semester and spend at least eight months in the laboratory. The written part of the doctoral thesis must be completed before they start with their practical year (i.e., shortly after the 2nd medical state exam).
